On Dec. 3, television stations will celebrate their Annual Coats & Toys for Kids Day, sponsored by the Maine Oil Dealers Association. Last year, this one-day “pep rally” brought in more than 14,000 donated coats statewide and 7,000 toys.

Hosted by Hannaford and Shaw’s Supermarkets, WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2 will broadcast live from seven locations statewide from 6:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hannaford and Shaw’s Supermarkets in seven Maine locations including North Windham, Westbrook and Freeport.

When the campaign ended last year, Mainers had generously donated more than 42,000 coats. Collection boxes will be at Hannaford and Shaw’s Supermarkets statewide from mid-November to Jan. 1.
