What is your position with the city and how long have you been on the job?

I’m an equipment operator 2, and I’ve been on the job for six-and-a-half years.

What is your background? Where did you go to school?

I went to high school at Hampden Academy and I went through a driver institute training in Bangor to get my Class A license. I’ve been in the construction field most of my working life.

What kind of duties does your job entail?

All kinds of them. From pushing a broom to running an excavator and everything in between. Equipment Operator 2’s run everything here.

What is the most likely way that your job causes you to interact with the general public?

We interact with the public in almost every facet of work that we do. We’re in the streets, if we’re not in the streets, we’re on the sidewalks. We’re on people’s properties. Everything we do is surrounded by the public.

What do you like most about your job?

The hours are pretty good in the summer and the winter, obviously they weren’t really long this year, but in a normal winter we’re very busy.

What do you like to do outside of work?

When I can get away I go snowmobiling. In the summer I go fishing a lot. I have a boat and my wife and I go fishing with the kids.
