Bird counts at Bradbury
The Bradbury Mountain hawk count, now in its seventh year, runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week from March 15 to May 15 in Pownal at Bradbury Mountain State Park. Run and funded by the Freeport Wild Bird Supply store, the count tallies numbers for 21 species. Those numbers have shown patterns of populations changing, according to Derek Lovitch, a wildlife biologist and the co-owner of the Freeport Wild Bird Supply store.
