The Cornelia Warren Foundation has donated $50,000 for the restoration of the Stephen W. Manchester American Legion post 62 in Westbrook. The Legion is hoping to raise another $10,000 from the community to complete the project.

Along with $10,000 of money from the Legion and a hoped for $10,000 in community donations, the project will install a large and distinctive window on the front of the Dunn Street building. The renovation will also include the replacement of the front doors, front steps, front windows, vinyl siding for the entire building, updated landscaping and sidewalks and making the first floor handicapped accessible.

The building, besides being home to the Westbrook Historical Society, has been used for club meetings, social events and church services since 1929. It is the hope of Legion members that the building will be restored to its original condition for current and future veterans, as well as all others who enjoy the building.
