Police searched a vehicle after a driver apparently lost control of an SUV mid-afternoon on Tuesday in Westbrook and struck a house at 127 Brown St.
Homeowners Robert and Beverly Barton were home, but said they were unhurt.
Police interviewed a young woman at the scene.
“She hit the house,” Robert Barton said.
He said the car punched a hole through the brick foundation of the home.
The vehicle appeared to have first flattened a utility pole and a section of Barton’s decorative iron fence.
