Flynn honored

David Flynn has been chosen by his peers as May Employee of the Month at the Transportation Department at Westbrook schools.

He has been with the department for almost three years. He drives the junior and senior high students to and from school and then spends the rest of his day on the south side of the city driving students from Canal and Saccarappa schools.

“During his down time as a driver, he volunteers at Saccarappa helping out during the lunch program. The students love having him there as well as the staff from Saccarappa,” transportation director Penny Esposito said.

Flynn also has been nominated for the School Bus Excellence Award. Drivers from the entire state are nominated for this award and the four top nominations go to the annual state conference, where they are interviewed and a winner is chosen.

“We certainly wish Dave good luck for the highest award a driver can receive,” Esposito said.
