Over the years, America has faced enormous challenges. World wars, Korea, Vietnam, the War on Terror and more. This nation’s fought to preserve our freedoms and a standard of living for our citizens that is second to none.
As I look back on my life, I distinctly remember entering high school in the 1990s, only to be surprised of the absence of the daily Pledge of Allegiance to the flag that my classmates and i were accustomed to during my elementary years.
This practice, or lack thereof, is also a fact in so many public educational institutions across the country.
To be frank, I find this unacceptable. I think the United States is one of the best countries in the world to live in, and I believe in it’s values. many have made enormous sacrifices to defend our way of life, and it’s appalling to me that after all our veterans have gone through, these schools don’t even have the decency to have their students honor the flag.
This country isn’t perfect. What country is? But you’d better be glad you live in a nation where you can enjoy the rewards America offers.
And for school systems not to encourage appreciation of what this country means is unfortunate, to say the least.
