South Portland’s annual One Community/One Book project: we’re reading Bill Bryson’s “A Walk in the Woods.”
This month-long event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
The One Community/One Book is a program that strives to bring the community together through the shared experience of reading a book.
The book is available (at a deep discount) at the South Portland Public Library locations, both the Main Library and the Branch Library. It is also available at Borders Books and Music, and Nonesuch Books and Cards.
Upcoming events related to the program are:
On Thursday, March 17, at 7 p.m. at Borders Books and Music, explore and share creative journaling techniques.
On Saturday, March 19, at 10 a.m. participate in a guided nature hike in Hinckley Park on Highland Avenue. (Snow date March 26.)
On Saturday, March 19, at 11:30 a.m. at the Main Library practice writing about your own experiences in a journaling workshop. (Snow date March 26.)
On Saturday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Jewett Auditorium at Southern Maine Community College, join filmmaker Douglas Morse for a presentation and discussion of his film, “2000 Miles to Maine: Adventures on the Appalachian Trail.”
On Monday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Branch Library, join a book discussion group.
On Tuesday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library, hear a presentation about Maine’s native mammals from the Chewonki Foundation.
