Junior Girl Scout Troop 1180 in Scarborough should be proud of their recent efforts to help disadvantaged families during Thanksgiving. Not only did the girls decorate a container, fill it with food and create cards of well wishes for recipients through Project G.R.A.C.E., they also spent a Sunday afternoon making eight pumpkin pies for food baskets that will be provided to families through the Root Cellar in Portland.
Their next community service project will be learning how to knit, then making scarves and possibly squares for a warm blanket for area shelters. Anyone wishing to support their efforts by donating extra knitting needles or yarn, please contact me at 883-2560 or via e-mail at hwill@maine.rr.com.
