Southern Maine Flame 16U played at the Southern Maine Diamond Challenge in Scarborough, June 16-18, going 5-0 and capturing the championship.
The offense was led by Audrey Grinnell (Saco), who batted .500 with a home run, seven RBIs and an OBP of .563; Emily O’Connell (Kennebunk), who batted .462, drove in three runs and had three stolen bases and an OBP of .563; and Jackie Moran (Cape Elizabeth), who batted .429 with one home run and had the win in game four, striking out seven.
Lesley Warn (Deering) went 3-0 in the tournament, striking out 29 and pitching the team to a win in the championship game against a strong Maine Attraction Yellow team.
The Flame will next compete at the ASA states in Augusta on June 30.
