Thiboutot, Gignac wed

Janet Thiboutot and Philip Gignac were married on May 1 at their home in Portland. The wedding was followed by a family reception.

The bride is the daughter of Leo and Mildred Thiboutot of Lecanto, Fla. The groom is the son of Louis H. Gignac of Iron Mountain, Mich., and Antoinette Ferrante-Gignac of Portland.

The bride is a 1970 graduate of Portland High School. She is a hair stylist and owner of As You Wish at 266 Woodford St., Portland.

The groom is a 1972 graduate of Portland High School. He is in circulation and advertising for the Current Publishing Company of Scarborough.

After a honeymoon in Florida, the couple is residing in Portland.

Meggisons’ grandson awarded Eagle Scout

Alex Ouellette, grandson of Bob and Astrid Meggison of Westbrook, received his Eagle Scout award on Saturday, April 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, N.H.

Ouellette, son of Jim and and Cindy (Meggison) Ouellette of Derry, N.H., is a member of Boy Scout Troop 98 in Derry. As an Eagle Scout project, Ouellette completely made over a nature trail at the East Derry Memorial Elementary School. It involved building bridges, benches, trail clearing, painting, repairing signs and making maps.

The ceremony was attended by 65 friends, family members and fellow scouts as well as dignitaries including a state senator and members of the armed forces.

Bill Meggison, son of Bob and Astrid, received his Eagle Scout award from Troop 84 of Westbrook in 1978. He delivered the Eagle charge in the ceremony.

Other Maine guests included Micki Meggison of Gorham; Dale and Charlie Melanson of Windham; and Marty and Pat Jensen of Cape Elizabeth.

Friends of feral felines perennial sale

The Friends of Feral Felines will host an annual perennial sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at 7 Arlington Ave., at the corner of Longfellow Street.

The sale will be held rain or shine.
