Swimming & Diving
Head Coach: Dana Barrows (first year)
How did last season end: “The athletes swam well after a season of hard work. We graduated a couple of great swimmers.”
Key veterans: Boys-Matt Violette and Jake Wilson; Girls-Kayla Kelly and Kelsy Hebert
Key newcomers: Boys-Kyle Goan and Kalin Lancaster; Girls-Brenda Wood
Key concern: “The men’s team is talented but are lacking in numbers. The women’s team is looking great in their numbers, but as a whole they are a very young team.”
Coach’s outlook: “The coaching staff is very pleased with the interest in swimming, with great numbers from our freshman and sophomore classes. We have athletes who are great listeners and are very willing to learn. We believe this is a great recipe for our future. We are anxious to get the opportunity to build the program into a Class A state contender.”
Wrestling
Coach: John Nicholas (third year)
Key veterans: Alex Emery, Amanda Simoneau, Ray Barnhart, Andrew Howe, Nick Marchant, Steven Moreau, Justin Drouin and Tony Gato
Key newcomers: Zach Huggard, Carl Langston and Brandon Dyer
Key concern: “Like last year we have another young team. With just two seniors, we’re counting on juniors and sophomores.”
Coach’s outlook: “We have a solid nucleus. All returning wrestlers have varsity experience, and we’re looking for those guys to step up. We hope to be competitive.”
Boys Basketball
Coach: Mark Karter (21 years)
Winter 2004-05 Record: 11-8
How did last season end: “Lost in western Maine quarterfinals to Marshwood.”
Key veterans: Pat Walsh, Kevin Lessard, Travis Rand, Dana Lebel
Key newcomers: Lucas Morrison, Chris dyer, Mike Hendrix, Shane Kelly, Josh Harriman
Key concern: “Lost 10 players from last year’s team, so we’re a very inexperienced team competing in a tough SMAA conference. Overall height of the team is a concern also.”
Coach’s outlook: “After losing all five starters to graduation and 10 players overall – the Blue Blazes will enter the season with a very inexperienced group. Overall team speed is OK, so the team will look to run a little more than the past with some pressure defense. With some very talented teams in the league, it would be a success to go 9-9 and reach the post-season tournament.”
Girls Basketball
Coach: Mike Murphy (third year)
Winter 2004-05 Record: 1-17
How did last season end: “Did not get invited to the MPA tournament.”

Key newcomers: Erin Murphy (freshman), Jalissa Bryant (freshman), Emily Wight (freshman), Jasmine White (junior), Alie Aceto (sophomore), Maria Romano (sophomore) and Erica Gammon (sophomore)
Key concern: “Inexperience, strength and youth (four freshman and four sophomores).”
Coach’s outlook: “We are looking to get better with each passing practice and game. We have kids who like to compete and will not be satisfied with the status quo. I like our team speed, overall quickness and athleticism, and our future.”
Girls Track

Winter 2004-05 Record: “Beat one team and tied one”
Key veterans: Jill Bernier, shot put, and Sam Peters, middle distance
Key newcomers: Sophomore Amy McIntyre

Key newcomers: Josh Caron, Justin Dube and Tyler Rand
Key concern: “I hope that we get better each game and each week.”

These girls have a new outlook and energy about themselves, their team, their school and their sport. We are looking forward to a successful season.”
