In a recent ceremony at the high school, seven seniors and 18 juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society.

The senior students include:

David Carl, son of David Carl Sr. and Sharon Ward of Buxton, is a member of the outdoor, indoor, and cross-country track teams as well as the robotics team and the Foreign Language Honor Society. He volunteers his time at the Preble Street Soup Kitchen and at his church, in addition to being an employee of Hannaford Supermarkets.

Eric Favreau, the son of James and Carolyn Favreau of Buxton, is an active member of the indoor, outdoor and cross-country track teams. He also is part of the Recycling Club and Jazz Band. He has done community service with the Wayside Soup Kitchen, Saint Anne’s Youth Group, and has worked as a local handyman and tutor.

Whitney King, daughter of Alton and Kathy King of Hollis, is editor-in-chief of the school’s newspaper, volunteers at the Walk For Cure, her church, and at her mother’s Daycare. She also is an employee at Alderbrook horse farm and Big Lots.

Eben Larrabee, son of Cindy and Peter Larrabee of Hollis, is an active participant in the golf, tennis, junior varsity and varsity soccer teams, and National History Day. He serves his community through his youth group and Project Graduation, while working at Salmon Falls Country Club and his family Christmas tree business.

Emily Larrabee, daughter of Mary and Frank Larrabee of Standish, a member of the tennis team, and track team, a volunteer at Camp Sunshine and has earned the Kiwanis Scholastic Achievement award.

Chelsea Northrop, the daughter of Jill and Cully Northrop of Buxton, is a dancer, member of the Drama Club, Mock Trial team, Natural Helpers and yearbook. She has dedicated her time to such places as the Ronald McDonald House, Salvation Army, and assisted in therapeutic riding programs with horses.

Lindsey Ross, daughter of Jere and Carolyn Ross, of Buxton. Lindsey participated in girls, soccer and lacrosse and went on a year-long youth program in Istanbul, Turkey during her junior year. She has also been a participant in the Relay for Life Cancer Walks and has been on the honor roll since her freshman year.

Junior inductees

Daniel Avery, son of Douglas and Kathleen Avery of Buxton, two-year football state championship winner. He is a Rec. counselor, a volunteer for youth football, and participated in Relay for Life.

Rebecca Bartlett, daughter of Ross and Susan Bartlett of Limington, is an active member in the Drama Club, junior classical league, Thespian Society, and Model United Nations. She volunteers for Girl Scouts, the Civil Rights team and the Standish Kiwanis Club.

Behn Brooks, the son of Rick and Linda Brooks of Standish. Behn is a member of the football team, Mock Trial Team, and participates in Key Club. Behn has also done a lot of community service for the town of Standish.

Sarah Carter, daughter of Michael and Martha Carter of Buxton. Sarah competes on several athletic teams one of which is varsity indoor track in which she has qualified for states two years in a row. She has also volunteered her time raising money for the Limington Library. In addition, Sarah works for the Carter Design Group during the summer.

Alanna Conn, daughter of Tim and Jackie Conn of Buxton. Allie participates in cross country, basketball and outdoor track. She has donated her time to Key Club activities and was the vice president of the March of Dimes. Allie has worked proofreading the Weight Watchers Light magazine.

Jonathan Coppi, son of Michael and Susan Coppi of Hollis. Jonathan is a member of the Golf, Ice Hockey, and Lacrosse teams. He has donated his time to coaching several youth hockey programs, such as the Little Scots Learn How to Skate Program. Jonathan has also worked at the Old Port Mariner Fleet and Field of Dreams Driving Range.

Jamie Frank, daughter of Joan and Danny Frank of Buxton. Jamie participates in the Key Club and has donated her time to activities such as stuff the bus and setting up the craft fair. She has worked at Buxton Mini Mart all through high school where she has trained four other employees. Jamie has also received the Responsible and Involved Citizen Award as well as the Global Village Award.

James Hanley, son of Joseph ad Susan Hanley of Limington. James has been active in athletics as he is a member of the basketball and tennis teams. He has also been an assistant coach for a Limington Youth Soccer team as well as a Limington T-ball team. James was also a counselor for the Gold Star Basketball Camp.

Maxine Harmon, daughter of John and Marie Harmon of Buxton, is a performer at the Gorham Community Ballet, member of a competition dance team, an instructor for a clay play class, and was a lead choreographer for the fall musical.

Amanda Hooper, daughter of Barbara Buckley and John Hooper, of Standish. Amanda is a member of the BE field hockey team and has participated in the 18 and under Division Indoor Softball Team. She has also been a member of T-Cell and Student Council, and has made a donation of her hair to Locks of Love for victims of cancer, burn traumas, and dermatological conditions.

Nathan Jewell, son of Mark and Terry Jewell, of Standish. Nathan is a member of BE varsity ice hockey, soccer, and baseball, and also plays hockey for the Maine Renegades Team and the Huskies Bantam Team. He has also been a participant in the Make-A-Wish All-Star Hockey Game, and a BREW Beagles Volunteer Fosterer.

Marie Libby, daughter of Gary and Elaine Libby, of Limington. Marie is a member of the girls’ cross-country and outdoor track teams, and is a member of the Girl Scouts. She has also participated in the March of Dimes and is a member of the Limington Congregational Church and youth group.

Kara Lombardo, daughter of Santo and Debbie Lombardo of Standish. Kara is a member of the BE field hockey team and FACS. She has also been a participant in several community service activities such as the Maine Children’s Cancer Walk, decorating for the Ronald McDonald House, candle boxing for the Community Cancer Center, the Scot Trot 5k road race, and donations towards the Salvation Army.

Brian McLaughlin, son of Susan and Charles McLaughlin of Standish. Brian is a member of jazz band and is the captain of the math team at BE. He is also a member of the BE indoor track and baseball teams, as well as the assistant coach for the 4th and 5th grade youth basketball team.

Carrie Moses, daughter or Susan and William Moses, of Standish. Carrie is a member of FACS, Key Club, and Natural Helpers. She has also participated in community service activities such as the Natural Helpers retreat, volunteer babysitting, and helping to take care of the elderly.

Josh Talbot, the son of Rich and Sue Talbot of Standish. Josh is an active member in T-Cell where he is the Treasurer, Amnesty International where he is the Secretary, and Special Olympics. Josh also has participated in Recreational Basketball, BEHS Craft Fair, Portland Soup Kitchen, and the annual Quilted Heart Dance. Josh has maintained several jobs and helps out his family a lot with taking care of his grandmother and babysitting.

Adam Theriault, the son of Bruce and Linda Theriault of Buxton. Adam participates in numerous athletic teams including varsity golf, varsity lacrosse, and varsity basketball. He previously was an active member of the Boy Scouts holding the title of Senior Patrol Leader and Eagle Scout. Adam has also held jobs at Sears and Snell’s Family Farm and has taken an advanced curriculum here at BEHS.

Tanya Therrien, the daughter of Laurie Jipson and Scott Therrien of Buxton. Tanya participates in cheering, field hockey, lacrosse, and dance. She is very active in her church and with local community service. Tanya has held numerous jobs and also participated in the People to People Student Ambassador Program. Tanya has also consistently taken honors math courses at Bonny Eagle.

Katherine Way, the daughter of Brian and Deborah Way of Limington. Katie has participated in many of the schools performing arts activities including Thespian Society where she is the Secretary, SPIDA, Select Chorus, theatre, and band. She is the manager of the defending football team and has participated in Girl Scouts since 2nd Grade.

Jennifer Weeman, the daughter of Loretta Hanscome and Curtis Weeman of Steep Falls, Maine. She is an avid member of Key Club and has served as the treasurer and is currently the President. Jennifer has done numerous community service activities including Coats for Kids, Stuff the Bus, and over 300 hours volunteering at the Brown Memorial Library to date.

Hannah E. Whitten, daughter of Diane and Rick Whitten of Buxton, a current member of Key Club, FACS, Natural Helpers, FBLA, and Amnesty International (president). Has participated in a Natural Helpers retreat and helps new students get around the school.

Stephanie Yum, daughter of Chris and Michele Yum of Buxton, has been a member of dance for 13 years, and has been competing for 6. She has earned her Eagle award and a lighting award for the One Act drama competition. She does babysitting for drug prevention meetings and tutors after school.
