The spring league kicked off with 10 teams in the mix for this season’s crown. Run N Gun made an early statement by knocking off the undermanned Legends, 102-75. The Gunners never trailed in jumping out to a 54-40 halftime lead and coasting to the win. Kevin Lamson was on fire for the winners, knocking down nine 3-pointers and finishing with 27, teammate Rich Wong added 26. Geoff Grigsby paced the Legends with 27, with five 3s and Lincoln Bigelow chipped in 23.
The Hebert Crew made their league debut a winning one by holding down the Bus Drivers, 57-49, in a defensive battle. The Hebert Crew had a 27-19 halftime lead before the Drivers made a late run to get within three. Ian Hebert led the way for The Hebert Crew with 18 while brothers Jordan and Pete Clement each added 11. Derek Goff had 13 and Ben Clark 11 for the Bus Drivers.
East Bay Builders continued the trend of new teams getting a win, by cruising past Dream Team, 93-76. East Bay Builders led by eight at the half and got balanced scoring to hold off Dream Team. All five East Bay Builders players scored in double figures, with Al Grady netting 25 and Caleb Sayward scoring 23. Seth Farrington had 25 and Mike Amergian 22 for Dream Team.
Team Hancock rode excellent shooting from the field in surprising the Dirty Muskrats, 87-66. Team Hancock jumped out to a 48-36 halftime lead, led by Matt Hancock, who scored 26 of his game-high 33 points in the first half. Mac Simpson provided the spark in the second half, scoring 14 of his 21 to help secure the win. Marc Flavin kept the Muskrats in the game scoring a team-high 26 and Tom Seekins added 11.
VTEC won yet again, this time pounding PBR, 111-72. Jon Furbush of VTEC made a spectacular debut, pouring in a game-high 42 along with six 3s. Neil Stewart and Brian Wohl each added 24 for the victors. Jeff Peterson paced PBR with 25 and Ray Eatmon and Matt Vasil each had 17.
