Kimberly Ouellette of Old Orchard Beach has won one of the Portland Rossini Club’s selective music scholarships. She was one of five young people in southern Maine to take home awards from the club’s recent scholarship competitions in piano, instrumental and voice.

Ouellette took second place in the Barbara Littlefield Vocal Prize competition. She is an undergraduate music major at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.

The Rossini Club’s annual competition draws musicians who live in Cumberland, Oxford and York counties, who are between the ages of 17 and 25 and who are registered music majors at an accredited institution for the fall of 2013. Live auditions take place in front of a panel of judges that includes current club members, along with local professional musicians.

The newly established Barbara C. Littlefield Vocal Scholarship Fund was created in memory of the club’s longtime treasurer and vocalist. The Portland Rossini Club is a group of Maine musicians that perform regularly at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Portland.
