Bluegrass at Warren

Everyone is invited to a free performance by Jerks of Grass, Maine bluegrass favorites, at 7 p.m. on Friday in the auditorium at the Warren Memorial Library, 479 Main St.

Wendy Hysko, library director, said the group will perform as part of the library’s monthly music series.

“This is a free concert generously funded by the Cornelia Warren Community Foundation,” Hysko said.

Swan excels at USM

A documentary film by Kelley Swan, a media studies major at the University of Southern Maine, and classmates Jeff Griecci and Justin Morse, was chosen as an official selection of the Maine International Film Festival and was shown at the festival at the Waterville Opera House on July 16.

A dean’s list student, she will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2008.

Kelley is the daughter of Stephen and Susan Swan of Westbrook and the granddaughter of Bud and Dolly Baldwin of Portland and the late Basil and Mary Swan of Westbrook.

Congratulations on 60th

Ernest and Florence Mains observed their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 4 at a party at the First Baptist Church in Westbrook.

They were married on Dec. 25, 1947, at the home of the Rev. Bonell in Portland and their reception was held at Sagamore Village. They have resided in Westbrook since their marriage in 1947

Ernest and Florence have 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. “They have been such a great couple throughout the years. It’s hard to imagine nowadays that couples can even stay married for this long. It is such a blessing to see this couple together and still going strong after 60 years of marriage,” the family said.

Garden club to meet

The Prides Corner Garden Club will have it’s first meeting of the season at 11 a.m., Wednesday at 159 Pride St., Westbrook. There will be a tour of the Mitchells’ flower garden.

Friends and new members are welcome.
