According to the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, both the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension reported that late blight symptoms were found in a potato field in Buxton this week.

Late blight is a non-treatable disease that affects tomatoes and potatoes, and spreads rapidly under warm, wet conditions. The state is recommending that growers and home gardeners take precautions to prevent infection or spread of the disease.
