Westbrook baseball clinic for middle schoolers

Westbrook High School’s baseball coaching staff, with the assistance of several varsity players, will hold clinics for middle school students on all baseball skills. Indoor lacrosse in Gorham

Gorham Sports Center is now accepting pre-registrations for the last session of high school lacrosse for boys and girls. The five-week session held on Wednesdays will be a team/league format with a set game schedule. Pre-registering is strongly encouraged, as payment will be required to reserve either a team slot or an individual player slot on a first-come, first-served basis. The girls play later in the afternoon and early evening with boys playing later in the evening. The deadline for pre-registering is Friday, Feb. 17, with league play beginning on Feb. 22. Get the jump on spring sports

The University of Southern Maine baseball staff will hold pitching, hitting and defense clinics on consecutive Sundays, Mar. 5 and 12, at the Costello Fieldhouse on the school’s Gorham campus. The clinics are open to players ages 8 to 18, with pitching and defense the focus from 9 a.m. to noon and hitting from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost for each session is $30, while a full day is $50. Swish for a good cause

The 12th annual Swish-Out Challenge 3-on-3 tournament will be held at USM on Sun., Feb. 12. Proceeds benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. Since 1993, more than $55,000 has been raised through the event. Teams may be of any size with the only stipulation being that a member of the opposite sex is on the court at all times. Participants receive a prize just for playing, as well as a T-shirt. Plaques are awarded to the top four teams, with this year’s champion receiving a picnic for 20 people at a Portland Sea Dogs game. Space is limited to the first 36 teams to register.
