Domino’s Pizza in Standish and the Standish Fire Department are joining forces to promote fire prevention. On Apr. 4, random orders for delivery between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m. at Domino’s Pizza may be surprised at the door when their pizza arrives aboard a fire engine. If all the smoke detectors in the home are working, the pizza is free.

“Fire safety is vitally important,” said Mike Mullen, general manager of Domino’s Pizza in Standish. “We are thrilled to work with the fire department on a program to promote the safety of our friends and neighbors and to reward those who make fire safety a priority.”

“Daylight Savings Time is a landmark time of year to change the batteries on your smoke detector,” said Martin Jordan, Standish Fire Chief. “Working smoke detectors save lives, but many people forget to maintain the batteries. We are excited to be working with Domino’s Pizza to promote good fire safety precautions by rewarding residents who have working smoke detectors with a free pizza.”

If the smoke detector is not working, the firefighters will replace the batteries and leave the home with a fully functioning detector. If the home does not have asmoke detector, Domino’s along with Standish Fire Department will provide the home a fully functioning detector.
