Food train to roll

Sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church, the food train this weekend will pick up boxes of food in the city-wide drive to benefit the Westbrook Food Pantry.

The drive is the fourth annual “Climb Aboard the Food Train.” Church members will pick up jars and boxes of food on Friday, May 1, from 100 Westbrook businesses that have been collecting donations. Train cars will be located at Shaw’s and at Bicentennial Park in front of Hannaford’s on Saturday, May 2.

The final run will be on Sunday, May 3, as the train picks up food at local churches after worship services. All the food and money will be taken to the Westbrook Food Pantry on Sunday afternoon to fill its shelves and enable it to buy milk, fresh produce and meat, and whatever else is needed.

The Southern Maine Community College Choir and Chamber Singers are presenting a concert at Trinity on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. The concert theme is “Songs of Love and Labor.”

Donations of non-perishable food items or cash will be given to the Climb Aboard the Food Train drive for the Westbrook Food Pantry.
