New fire truck arrives

Buxton Fire Chief Jeff Grinnell has announced that the town has received its brand new fire truck.

A year ago, voters approved the lease-purchase of the tanker/pumper. Grinnell said the truck would serve the town for a minimum of 25 years.

The new truck has a capacity to hold 2,600 gallons of water and pump at the rate of 1,250 gallons per minute. It is equipped with 400 feet of “attack” hose with 1,400 feet of four-inch supply hose.

Features on board the truck include tire chains that automatically attach in icy conditions and rear view cameras with a screen in the cab, allowing the driver to see an otherwise blind spot behind the truck.

Grinnell thanked those that made the acquisition possible. They include Buxton citizens, the board of selectmen, and committee members Ben Bruns, Bill Roberts, Ed Lavigne, Harry Weymouth, Jason Grant and Jamie Grant.
