Rotary golf tournament

The Rotary Club of Westbrook-Gorham invites the public to its 21st annual Rotary Classic Golf Tournament, to be held Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Gorham Country Club.

The 18-hole, four-ball scramble will begin with a shotgun start at noon.

Those participating are asked to arrive no later than 11:30 a.m. for check-in and assignments. Prizes will be awarded to the top foursomes, closest to the pin, longest drives, and many others.

Participation is open to everyone and players can sign up individually or as a team. A number of sponsorship packages are also available for individuals and/or business who wish to contribute with a cash and/or prize donation.

The proceeds will benefit the Rotary’s local high school and vocational scholarship programs, as well as the Three-Day Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, programs and other local community programs in the town of Gorham and city of Westbrook.

BMW opening in Westbrook

BMW of Westbrook will be the newest dealership in the Bill Dodge Auto Park when it hosts a grand opening event this Saturday, Aug. 15. The event will take place from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the dealership at 7 Saunders Way. The dealership will sell new and used cars. Last year, city officials amended Westbrook’s gateway zoning district to allow the existing auto malls, such as Bill Dodge, to expand and welcome new dealerships.

Class of ’52 reunion

Jean Thomas has announced that the Westbrook High School class of 1952 will hold its 63rd reunion on Friday, Sept. 11, at Fireside Inn & Suites, Riverside Street (near Exit 48) in Portland.

A meet-and-greet social gathering will precede a luncheon at noon. The cost is $30 per person and guests are welcome to attend. For more information, call Thomas at 797-7873.

Mill Brook Trails walk

The Presumpscot Regional Land Trust is hosting a walk along the Mill Brook trail from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, in Westbrook and to view other proposed trails. Those interested should RSVP to info@prlt.org.

‘Zero 2 Hero’

The American Red Cross is offering a three-day course this month in which a resident with zero experience can become a volunteer trained for disaster services in a program titled “Zero2Hero.”
