A number of Maine runners braved high winds and the snow-packed trail at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., for the National USATF Junior Olympic Cross Country Meet, held last Saturday. Among the more than 2,000 runners participating were Daniel Ornstein and Wout Moulin, both age 10 of Scarborough. Ornstein finished 44th among 250 runners in the Bantam division, completing the 3K course in 13:40.21 (averaging 7:20 per mile). Moulin finished in 145th place, running the course in 15:01.44.
Due to a reporting error, the names of a number of Scarborough High School girls indoor track athletes were left out of last week’s winter preview. Among those returning for coach Ron Kelly are Allison Chamberlain, Jaymie Coulston, Hilary Curtis, Angie Damon, Erica Jesseman, Emma Judkins, Devon Leighton, Annie Mills, Sarah Morin, Rachael Mumm, Kaitlynn Saldanha, Becky Sither and Karen Smith. Key newcomers on the team are Whitney Chamberlain, Katrijn Moulin, Courtney Robinson, Cara Snyder and Jenna Van Dam.
