Jereck Chute, of Windham, rides recently at Spurwink’s Therapeutic Riding Program in North Yarmouth. Founded in 1990, Spurwink’s Therapeutic Riding Program serves children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of physical, behavioral and developmental disabilities. Chute is 11 years old and has participated in Spurwink’s program for three years. His mother, Deborah Chute, is amazed at how focused and attentive Jereck is while riding. “Horses do incredible things for kids,” Deborah Chute said. “You wouldn’t believe the things Jereck can do on a horse that he can’t do elsewhere. “Here he knows he has to be organized, he has to be responsible. The kids are in control. Jereck loves it.” For more information about Spurwink’s Therapeutic Riding Program, contact Sue Murphy at 797-2512.
