The results are in – Chandler Woodcock has defeated Gov. John Baldacci. At least that’s how the students at Gorham High School voted this week.
The Gorham students picked Republican Woodcock by a slim, 4-vote margin margin over the Democratic incumbent. They also chose two Congressional incumbents by wide margins and rejected TABOR.
Gorham Principal John Drisko announced the high school poll results Tuesday.
In the four-way gubernatorial race, Woodcock received 67 votes, and Baldacci, 63. Independent Barbara Merrill tallied 28, Green Party candidate Patricia LaMarche, 20; and Philip Morris NaPier, 15. With a total of 193 votes cast in the school’s poll for governor, Woodcock got 34.7 percent of the vote.
In referendum Question 1, the students said no to the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, 109-95.
Republican Olympia Snowe easily won the race for the U.S. Senate, as did Democrat Tom Allen for the District 1 U.S. House seat.
