Special town meeting

The town of Sebago is holding a special town meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Sebago Town office. The townspeople will be asked if they favor filing a petition for withdrawal from School Unit 61. Licenses available

The 2016 Standish dog licenses are now available at the Standish Town Clerk’s Office. To register, bring a current certificate showing that your dog has had a rabies vaccination and a spayed or neutered certificate, if applicable. Fees range from $6 for a spayed or neutered dog to $11 for a non-spayed/neutered dog. Kennel fees are $42. Any dog registered after Jan. 31 will be charged a $25 late fee. Support the team

The Saint Joseph’s College baseball program will host the 12th Annual Hot Stove Auction on Sunday, Jan. 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the college dining hall, on the White’s Bridge Road campus.

The Hot Stove Auction is one of the team’s largest annual fundraisers and includes a wide variety of items up for bid, including autographed sports memorabilia, high-end electronics, vacation packages, framed photos, custom SJC Baseball items, gift cards to local restaurants and businesses, as well as homemade goods and gift baskets.

This event is free and open to the public, but seating for this event is limited and attendees are encouraged to pre-register. The annual event boasts an afternoon of competitive bidding, baseball conversation and desserts and refreshments. There will be a snow date for the event of Monday, Jan. 18, at noon.

Kids Night Out

Saint Joseph’s College is hosting Kids Night Out in the Alfond Recreation Center on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 5:30-9 p.m. for kids ages 7-13.The cost is $12 for one child and $6 each additional child per family. Includes swimming, rock climbing wall, movies, games, sports, arts & crafts. Concessions are available. Participants cannot register before the event as it is on-site registration only.

Students are mad for science

The Mad Science Program will be starting for Sebago kids on Jan. 29. The six-week class costs $75 and will take place on Fridays from 3:10-4:10 p.m. at Sebago Elementary School.

Additionally, the Mad Science Program for Standish students begins on Wednesday, Jan. 27. This six-week class costs $75 and will take place on Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at George E.
