Three Limington men are facing charges of theft after being arrested in Gorham last week.

Gorham Detective Lawrence Maxfield-Fearon arrested the three suspects on Feb. 7 on charges of theft of building materials during the past year from a construction site in Gorham.

Maxfield-Fearon said a 52-year-old man and his two adult sons, all of Limington, were summonsed and taken to Cumberland County Jail. The three are out on bail.

Police declined to release the names of the three, pending a review by the county district attorney’s office, which could change the charges. Maxfield-Fearon said the case hasn’t gone to the grand jury yet.

Maxfield-Fearon said that building materials valued at $16,000 were recovered at three residential construction sites in Cornish. ‘They were building their own homes with the stolen property,” Maxfield-Fearon alleged.

The material, which included siding, flooring and decking, was allegedly stolen from Morrill Place, a condo construction project across Morrill Avenue from Gorham High School. The material was stolen over the course of a year beginning in December of 2004, police said.

The York County Sheriff’s Department assisted Gorham Police in the investigation. Maxfield-Fearon said York County had received a tip from an informant, which led to the arrests.
