The Scarborough High School Key Club raised more $2,000 for victims of Hurricane Katrina during its “Donate Your Lunch Money” fund-raiser Sept. 9.

In about 90 minutes, students donated more than $1,000, which was matched by Wood Structures Inc. of Biddeford. The money will be donated at the American Red Cross Disaster Assistance.

“We were all surprised and encouraged by everyone’s willingness to contribute to the relief effort,” said Doug Endrizzi, president of the Scarborough High School Key Club. “The donations far exceeded our expectations for one day’s lunch.”
