SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. — Beatrice Irene Simpson, 96, formerly of Brunswick, died Dec. 28 at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Sun City Center, Fla.
She was born in Augusta on July 17, 1912, the daughter of Raymond and Marion (Poland) Leighton.
She graduated from Cony High School in 1930 and took courses at the University of Maine in Portland and the University of New Hampshire.
She taught for several years at Brunswick Public Schools.
She married Robert Henry Simpson in Brunswick on Sept. 18, 1936.
They wintered in Bradenton, Fla., from 1971 to 1985, where she was a member of the Sweet Adelines.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert on Feb. 12, 1988.
Surviving are her son, Robert C. Simpson of Sun City Center, Fla.; her daughter, Marion Morris of South Elgin, Ill.; a half sister, Sally A. Gagnon of Manchester; a sister-in-law, Bernice Douglas of Brunswick; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five step great- grandchildren.
Services will be held during June in Maine.
