CUMBERLAND FORESIDE — Frances E. (Silverman) Wheeler, 88, died Jan. 8 at her home.
She was born in Lynn, Mass., on Nov. 17, 1920, a daughter of Hymen and Rachel Silverman.
As a child, her family moved to Portland, relocating their family business Century Tire.
She graduated from Portland High School in 1938.
She was married to William L. Wheeler.
She held many jobs over the years but was employed mainly as a waitress at Falmouth restaurants such as Pineland and Allen’s Acre.
She was predeceased by her husband, William, who died in April 2000.
She had a great sense of humor and personality, which made her well liked among the restaurant patrons.
She is survived by her son, Harvey B. Wheeler and his wife Roxanne of Cumberland Foreside; two granddaughters, Bethany Taglieri of Fresno, Calif., and Kathryn Mailman of Redondo, Calif.; her great-grandson, Nicholas Taglieri; her brother, Jackie Silverman and his wife Diane of Seabrook, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Jan. 15 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a 12 p.m. memorial service at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland.
