BRUNSWICK — Jean (LaCourse) Lee, 78, died Jan. 18 at Winship Green in Bath.
She was born in the LaCourse home in Rumford on Oct. 19, 1930, the daughter of Mitchell and Rena (Willitte) LaCourse.
She attended Rumford schools and graduated from the Casco Bay College legal secretary program.
On Feb. 9, 1950, she married Mervale “Bud” Lee and traveled as a military wife to various Army bases including Panama, Portugal, Philippines and Africa.
After the death of her husband, she worked in the Brunswick school system and later as a secretary for the anthropology and sociology department at Bowdoin College, retiring in 1993.
She enjoyed summers at her family camp on Worthly Pond in East Peru, where she taught all the grandchildren to swim.
She enjoyed bowling, golf, painting and was an avid player of crossword puzzles.
She was predeceased by her husband on Dec. 12, 1968.
She is survived by her son, Richard R. Lee of Georgetown; and three daughters, Daryl-Ann Lee and her companion Jeff Peters of Arrowsic, Kate Hodgkins and her husband Steve of Harpswell and Janet Knight and her husband Daniel of Topsham; her longtime companion, Robert T. Hincks of Brunswick; two brothers, Thomas LaCourse and his wife Bonnie of Granbury, Texas, and John LaCourse and his wife Marybeth of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Jan. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
