YARMOUTH — Katherine Jean Myers, 76, died March 3 at Brentwood Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on April 24, 1932, in Hatfield, Mass., the only child of Mary J. (Pitchko) and Harry C. O’Neal.
After she graduated from Smith Academy in Hatfield, she worked as a secretary for local universities.
On Aug. 19, 1950, she married George J. Myers and raised their two daughters in Florence, Mass.
In 1974, they moved to Ogunquit and became owners of the Ogunquit Innkeepers Motel. After retiring in 1986, they moved to Yarmouth to be closer to family.
She was community-minded, volunteering her time with Yarmouth Historical Society, the U.S. Census and the League of Women Voters. Her hobbies included gardening, genealogy and was a lifelong lover of collies.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George Myers of Yarmouth; her daughter Deborah Godowsky and her husband Barry of Yarmouth, her daughter Cynthia Hardy and her husband Malcolm of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; her grandchildren Kathryn Ouellette and her husband Evan and David Godowsky, all of Massachusetts.
Memorial services were held last week.
