BRUNSWICK — Florence Louise Coombs, 80, died March 28 at Amenity Manor in Topsham.
She was born in Brunswick Nov. 5, 1928, daughter of Irving and Ruth (Little) Prince.
On Oct. 11, 1958, she married Bertram Coombs.
While she was a homemaker most of her life, she ran a home day care for some time where she was affectionately known as “Nana” to her daycare families.
Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. Her house was always busy with family and friends coming and going.
She was predeceased by her husband Bertram on Feb. 5, 2001, and a sister Edith Griffin.
Surviving are sons William Field and his wife Cynthia of Topsham, Gilbert Field and his wife Jackie of Lewiston, Robert Field and his companion Cindy of Harpswell, Gordon Field and his wife Darlene of Brunswick, Bernard Coombs and his wife Jenny of Brunswick and Brian Coombs and his companion Becky of Brunswick, and daughters Ruth Brooks and her husband Walter of Durham, Susan Holman Field of Maine and Connecticut, Eola Therrien and her husband Fern of Leeds, Brenda Masse and her husband Patrick of Brunswick; sisters Alice Groves of Brunswick, Helene Bisson of Cundy’s Harbor, Roberta Farmer of Freeport and Barbara Knedler of Topsham, and brother Hartwell Prince of Harpswell; 24 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held last week.
Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
