BRUNSWICK — Rose Alice Bernier, 87, died June 11 at Mid Coast Hospital.
She was born in Brunswick on July 16, 1921, a daughter of Alcide J. and Aline (Caron) Letarte, and graduated from St. John’s School.
During World War II, she worked at Verney Mill. On June 22, 1946, she married Leon C. Bernier in Brunswick, and lived at their home on Pleasant Street for 58 years.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and devoted her life to taking care of her family.
Her hobbies included reading, knitting, and puzzles, and her greatest joy came from spending time with family .
She was predeceased by her husband Leon, who died Feb. 7, 1978, and a son, Roland, who died Dec. 17, 1995.
Surviving are five children, Lorraine Bisson and her husband Maurice of Brunswick, Doris Ouellette and her husband Gerry of Topsham, Louise Burgess and her husband John of Ellington, Conn., and Caroline Zazeski and her husband Wayne of Topsham, Paul Bernier and his wife Peggi of Folsom, Calif.; a brother, Jean-Pierre Letarte of Brunswick; eight grandchildren, Coreen Reed, Keith Bisson, Mark Ouellette, David Ouellette, Jennifer Ambrose, Adam Zazeski, Dannie Smith and Amanda Zazeski; 4 great grandchildren, Alida Reed, Annalise Reed, Avery Reed, and Jonathan Bisson.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
