YARMOUTH — Jackson Caruso’s two-run double highlighted a six-run first inning started Yarmouth on its way to a 9-3 win over St. Dominic Academy in a Western Maine Conference baseball game Saturday.
Ben Norton followed Caruso’s double with a double of his own, helping the Clippers (5-3) build a 6-0 lead.
Toby Burgmaier (1-0) pitched four scoreless innings to earn his first career win, allowing four hits with one strikeout.
Riley Volpe hit a double for the Saints (3-4).
NOBLE 9, WESTBROOK 8: Jacob Lacroix hit a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning as the Knights (6-3) rallied to beat the Blue Blazes (1-8) in North Berwick.
Justin Coppeta and Matt Eugley each had two RBI for Westbrook, which led 8-4 before Noble scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Jackson Vandenberg (3-0) earned the win with three hitless innings of relief.
PORTLAND 8, SANFORD 2: Donnie Tocci lined a two-run triple to highlight a four-run sixth inning as the Bulldogs (7-1) pulled away from the Spartans (2-7) at Portland.
Camren King had three hits for Portland, while Will Barnard, Ben Stasium and Will Snyder each added a pair of hits.
MARSHWOOD 10, DEERING 2: The Hawks (5-3) scored seven runs in the fifth inning to pull away from the Rams (5-3) in South Berwick.
Max Horton hit a two-run double, and Nate Curtis and Eli Janetos each had an RBI single for Marshwood.
Jack Cahill (1-1) earned the win, allowing six hits and one earned run in 4 2/3 innings.
Daniel Hill hit an RBI single for Deering, and Luc Harrison belted a double.
SACOPEE VALLEY 13, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 2: Jaren Jordan had three hits and four RBI to lead the Hawks (4-3) over the Panthers (1-5) in Yarmouth.
Dylan Miner and Sean Wedgewood each added two hits for Sacopee Valley. Michael Murphy pitched three innings, striking out six.
OCEANSIDE 11, ERSKINE ACADEMY 4: The Mariners (8-2) opened with a four-run first inning, paced by Jack Freeman’s two-run single, and pulled away with six more runs in the third as they handled the Eagles (4-6) at South China.
Uriah Thongsophaphone finished with four of Oceanside’s 14 hits, Titus Kaewthong had three hits, including a double, and Michael Dougherty and Michael Norton Jr. each contributed two hits.
Nick Barber led Erskine with four hits, including a double. Boomer Jorgensen added three singles.
RICHMOND 25, FOREST HILLS 2: Ben Gardiner had a home run and four RBI to lead the Bobcats (7-0) to a five-inning victory over the Tigers (3-4) in Buckfield.
Andrew Vachon hit two doubles, and Zach Small, Nate Kendrick, Tristan Shea, Kyle Tilton and Cyrus Logan also had doubles for the Bobcats.
SOFTBALL
SCARBOROUGH 13, MARSHWOOD 1: Hunter Greenleaf blasted a pair of two-run homers as the Red Storm (11-0) cruised past the Hawks (3-5) in five innings at Scarborough.
Greenleaf homered during an eight-run second inning, then connected again in the third as Scarborough stretched its lead to 12-1.
Laura Powell went 2 for 2 and drove in two runs, Isabella Dickinson and Lindsey Kelly each contributed a pair of hits, and Felicia O’Reilly homered in the fourth inning.
OCEANSIDE 24, ERSKINE ACADEMY 1: The Mariners (8-2) scored 12 runs in the sixth inning to wrap up a mercy-rule win over the Eagles (2-8) in South China.
Chloe Jones hit a double and a triple for Oceanside.
NOKOMIS SWEEPS PRESQUE ISLE: The Warriors (7-4) scored 29 runs on 21 hits to sweep a doubleheader against Presque Isle (2-6) in Newport, 15-3 and 14-2.
Maci Leali hit a home run and a triple, and Aren Herrick added a triple and a double for Nokomis. Austin Leighton had two doubles.
BOYS’ LACROSSE
BONNY EAGLE 12, EDWARD LITTLE 10: Alex Dyer had three goals and an assist to lead the Scots (4-3) past the Red Eddies (1-6) at Standish.
Anthony Breton, Max Zydagio and Dillon Cobbett added two goals apiece for Bonny Eagle, and Johnathan Merrill and Tyler Williams also scored.
Spencer Frahn paced Edward Little with five goals. Ben Feldman scored three times.
LINCOLN ACADEMY 12, JOHN BAPST 2: Nolan Michel scored five goals to lead the Eagles (6-0) over the Crusaders (0-5) in Bangor.
Nathan Simmons added three goals for Lincoln, which led 10-0 at halftime. Liam Cullina had two goals and two assists, and Damon Westhaver made 12 saves.
ERSKINE ACADEMY 13, MCI/NOKOMIS 6: Caleb Tyler scored twice in the first 17 seconds and Chance Read finished with five goals for the Eagles (2-3) in a win at Pittsfield.
MCI/Nokomis (2-4), which trailed 6-4 after the first quarter, was led by Logan Rowell with three goals and David Wilson with two.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
WAYNFLETE 10, MARSHWOOD 5: Ya Stockford scored five goals and assisted on two others, and the Flyers (4-1) used a late four-goal run to pull away from the Hawks (2-4) in Portland.
Izzy Burdick added two goals and four assists, and LZ Olney also scored twice for the Flyers.
Marshwood got three goals from Olivia Melton and a goal and three assists from Marin Smith.
WINSLOW 12, DEERING 6: Sarah Stevens scored four goals to lead the Black Raiders (4-0) to a win over the Rams (3-3) in Winslow.
Silver Clukey added three goals, Hailey Grenier chipped in with two, and Taylor Rodriguez, Savannah Joler and Cassie McCaslin also scored. Carrie Selwood made seven saves.
Maelle Tati-Pambou scored three goals for Deering.
SCARBOROUGH 11, BRUNSWICK 0: Meagan Neelon and Erin Stolz each scored three goals to lead the Red Storm (1-5) over the Dragons (2-5) in Scarborough.
Ellie Smith and Leah Manfra each added two goals.
