Betty, left, and her sister Anna graduated from Smith Academy in Hatfield, MA. in 1935. She worked as a tobacco farmer who sorted leaves for one dollar a day when she was growing up. For many years she lived in Newport, NH where she was part of the Congregational Church choir and was a communion bread maker.
