President Donald Trump signed The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law on December 22. How will this affect Maine businesses? Karla Brannen, CPA, Albin, Randall & Bennett

Karla is a tax manager at Albin, Randall & Bennett in Portland.  She focuses primarily on tax compliance and planning for a wide range of clients, including high wealth individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and private foundations.  Karla is the President of the Maine Society of CPAs and a member of the AICPA council. She is a 2006 graduate of Thomas College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Business Administration. Outside the office, Karla enjoys outdoor activities. She volunteers her time helping dogs through Buddy Up Animal Society, and you can also find her volunteering at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine and Wayfinder Schools.

Justin Coffin, Financial Advisor, Rockland Financial Group at UBS Financial Services

Justin Coffin and his team at Rockland Financial Group focus on comprehensive planning for business owners and individuals. Prior to joining Rockland Financial Group, Justin worked both as a Tax Manager at a regional accounting firm and as a general practice attorney in the Midcoast area.  A graduate of University of Maine at Orono,  Maine Law and Boston University Law, Justin also recently earned his designation as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).  Born and bred in southern Maine, Justin now lives in Cumberland with his wonderful wife and his two delightful kids; the latter of whom would be ashamed if he forgot to include their hyperactive dog in the family list.

Kris Eimicke, Partner, Pierce Atwood LLP

Kris Eimicke concentrates his practice on tax issues, with a special emphasis on state and federal new markets tax credit programs, renewable energy tax credits, and historic rehabilitation tax credits. Kris also regularly advises businesses, tax-exempt organizations, and individuals on tax issues related to a variety of business transactions, as well as representation before the Internal Revenue Service, state revenue agencies, and the courts on income tax and property tax.
