Jared Brooks singled in the winning run in the ninth inning Friday, lifting Cheverus to a 2-1 victory against Scarborough in an SMAA baseball regular-season finale.

Scarborough (9-7) took a 1-0 lead in the first when Wyatt Plummer drove in a run with a groundout. Cheverus (15-1) tied it in the second on a sacrifice fly by Cam Dube.

Brooks, who led the Stags with three hits, drove in Dube to win it.

Jack Casale of Cheverus pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out five.

BONNY EAGLE 10, SOUTH PORTLAND 3: The Scots (5-11) scored four runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the Red Riots (12-4) at South Portland.

Arlo Pike recorded two hits and two RBI for Bonny Eagle.

Kolby Lambert earned the win, allowing three earned runs and four walks with four strikeouts in five innings. Lambert hit a two-run inside-the-park homer in the sixth.

Anthony Perron led South Portland with two hits. Noah McHugh had an RBI single.

SOFTBALL

SOUTH PORTLAND 7, GORHAM 6: Grace Rende hit a walkoff single in the ninth inning as the Red Riots (7-9) defeated the Rams (9-7) at South Portland.

Grace McGouldrick led Gorham with four hits, and hit a solo homer in the seventh to make it 6-6.

Maeve Kelley finished with three hits for South Portland. Aviyonna Kim scored on the winning single by Rende, who finished with two RBI.

Stephanie Aceto earned the win, striking out 15, allowing 12 hits, six runs and two walks.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 3, YORK 2: The Raiders (13-3) scored an an error in the eighth inning to defeat the Wildcats (5-11) at Fryeburg.

York took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Sophia Stephens, but Paige O’Connell’s sacrifice fly for Fryeburg in the bottom of the inning tied it.

Fryeburg’s run in the eighth came when a single by Makayla Cooper advanced a runner, who then scored on an errant throw. Cooper led Fryeburg with three hits.

Nicole Bennett earned the win, striking out six.

CAPE ELIZABETH 16, YARMOUTH 4: Finnegan Raymond had four goals and three assists to lead the Capers (11-1) over the Clippers (6-6) at Cape Elizabeth.

Owen Thoreck, Connor Thoreck, Tate Perkins and Jacob Brydson each had two goals for Cape Elizabeth.

Sam Price recorded eight saves.

Silas Chappell led Yarmouth with two goals.

William Jacobs and Henry Venden also scored.
