AUBURN — Kristina Cornelio scored five goals Tuesday to lead top-ranked St. Dominic to a 6-2 victory against fifth-seeded Brunswick in a girls’ hockey North semifinal game at the Norway Savings Bank Arena.
The Saints (19-0) will meet Greely for the North title at 4:10 p.m. Thursday at Lewiston.
Cornelio opened the scoring early in the first period before Beth Labbe countered for Brunswick (9-11) late in the period.
Cornelio regained the lead for the Saints 18 seconds into the second before Jenna Brooks made it 2-2 with 33 seconds left in the period.
Cornelio completed her hat trick with 7:43 remaining in the game – one of her three goals in the final period – and Emma Theriault also scored for St. Dominic.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
LEAVITT 38, MORSE 25: Elizabeth Goulette had 17 points and nine boards as the eighth-seeded Hornets (8-11) defeated the ninth-ranked Shipbuilders (5-14) in a Class A South prelim at Turner.
Leavitt will play top-ranked Greely (17-1) at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the quarterfinals at the Portland Expo.
Allie Belaire contributed eight points for Leavitt.
Sierra Wallace led Morse with eight points.
WINSLOW 47, MT. VIEW 14: Heather Kervin had 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals to lead the fifth-seeded Black Raiders (17-2) over 12th-ranked Mt. View (6-13) in a Class B North prelim at Winslow.
Winslow will take on fourth-seeded Hermon (14-4) in the quarterfinals at 1:35 p.m. Saturday at Bangor.
Ciara LeClair added nine points and five steals for Winslow (17-2).
Shala Davis led Mount View (6-13) with six points.
MADISON 39, ST. DOMINIC 35: Madeline Wood scored 13 points to lead the fifth-seeded Bulldogs (14-5) over the 12th-ranked Saints (6-13) to a Class C South prelim at Madison.
The Bulldogs will meet fourth-seeded Old Orchard Beach in the quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Augusta.
Lauren Hay finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds for Madison. Sydney LeBlanc scored seven points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Caroline Gastonguay led St. Dom’s with 12 points.
GARDINER 63, BREWER 50: The eighth-seeded Tigers (12-7) used a strong inside-outside game, riding the hot shooting of Lauren Chadwick, who finished with 16 points, in the second half to pull away from ninth-ranked Brewer (5-14) in a Class A North prelim at Gardiner.
Gardiner will play top-seeded and unbeaten Messalonskee in the quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Augusta.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 56, SEARSPORT 25: The third-seeded Mustangs (16-3) opened a 29-5 lead and breezed by the No. 14 Vikings (8-11) in a Class C South prelim at Monmouth.
Monmouth will meet sixth-seeded Waynflete in the quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Augusta.
BOYS’ HOCKEY
YARMOUTH 3, ST. DOMINIC 2: Owen Ramsay scored with five seconds to play, and finished with a pair of goals and an assist for the Clippers (7-8-1), who overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Saints (7-8) at Yarmouth.
William Fletcher started the scoring for St. Dominic from Jeremy Phelan and Jacob Lewis after 1:28.
Noah Toussaint made it 2-0 from Dylan Campbell and Justin Keaney 49 seconds into the second period before William Jacobs answered for Yarmouth from Ramsay and Cooper May with 6:48 to go in the period.
Ramsay tied it with 1:59 remaining in the game.
CONY/HALL-DALE/MONMOUTH 8, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 1: Riley Dowe scored three goals to lead the Rams (11-5) over Mt. Ararat (6-10) at Hallowell.
Logan Leadbetter and Cam Wilson each added two goals, and Avery Pomerleau also scored for Cony. Dalton Bowie made 18 saves.
Mark Abreau scored for Mt. Ararat. Orion Piston made seven saves and Parker Lacey stopped 13 shots.
FALMOUTH 5, CHEVERUS 0: Brendan Hickey scored two goals and Alex Grade had three assists as the Yachtsmen (12-3-1) cruised past the Stags (11-4-1) at Falmouth.
Marcus Cady, Jack Kidder and Robbie Armitage added goals for the Yachtsmen. Jason Halversen made 36 saves for Cheverus.
