WATERVILLE — Authorities said Friday that the person found dead at Damon’s Beverage a day earlier was a 52-year-old city woman who worked at the store.
The body of Angela Bragg of Waterville was discovered inside the business at 6 Jefferson St. early Thursday morning by a coworker, police said.
Police said Friday that they are continuing to search for Spridal Hubiak, 20, of Waterville who was also an employee at Damon’s Beverage, in connection with the killing. An arrest warrant on a murder charge was issued Thursday for Hubiak, who also goes by the nickname “Spiral.”
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta said Bragg was killed by a sharp force injury and ruled it a homicide.
Police said Hubiak was last known to be driving a Black 2010 Ford Taurus with Maine license plate 4666ZR. Investigators said they believe Hubiak has left the state and “efforts to locate him continue,” according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety.
Police asked that anyone with information on Hubiak’s whereabouts contact the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit at 207-624-7076, or the Waterville Police Department at 207-680-4700.
Damon’s Beverage posted on its Facebook page Friday that its staff was “in the middle of an unimaginable tragedy, one that ended with the loss of one of our family in our Waterville location.”
Bragg, the post said, “was a valued employee, friend, and person.”
“None of us will be the same after this,” the store’s post said. “As we continue to grieve her loss, and try to recover any semblance of normalcy, we appreciate all your patience. We are meeting with our staff on Saturday in an attempt to address their emotional, mental, and physical needs first.”
