Joseph David Vetro
NAPLES – Joseph David Vetro, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023 after a lengthy battle with illness.
Joseph was born in Reynoldsville, Pa. on June 5, 1946 to Joseph and Alice Myra (Williams) Vetro. He was raised in Soldier, Pa. and was a 1965 graduate of Reynoldsville High School.
After graduating high school Joseph enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, fighting in the Vietnam War. After the war, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy where he held numerous positions until he retired in 1991 as a Master Chief Petty Officer and a proud U.S. Veteran. Upon retirement he continued to use skills gained in the Navy as a Corrections Officer at Windham Correctional Center.
Joseph shared many joys with his friends and family, including fishing, hunting, playing card games, traveling, and visiting casinos.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Rose Nettie (Lyons) Vetro of Reynoldsville, Pa.; and his longtime companion of 46 years, Joanne Vetro of Buxton.
Joseph is survived by his son, Joshua Vetro and his wife Katie, and granddaughter Eleanor of Buxton.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Route 22), Buxton.
