David Olan Malone
COLUMBIA, Tenn. – David Olan Malone passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his love one on Dec. 6, 2023 at the age of 84.
Born Sept. 24, 1939, he was the son of the late John and Bessie Woods Malone. David, served proudly in the Marines Corps. He spent 22 years in road construction for Blue Rock Industries in Westbrook when he founded his own company Damon and Malone in Scarborough. In 2009, he moved to Columbia, Tenn. to assist with the family business, SoftSpace South in Columbia Tenn. He could always be seen sauntering through the shop making jokes and telling everyone to put some extra time on their time cards. He was known lovingly as “Mr. Dave”.
David loved his old 45s, John Wayne and motorcycles. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, always good for a bet on the football game with the bet being for a burger and a beer or with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren offering a little walking around money.
Dave was survived by the love of his life of 48 years, Patricia Malone; his children, John and Gail Malone, David and Kelly Andrews, Stephen and Jacqueline Andrews, Mike Malone, Gloria and William Clark, Susan Mesko, John Mesko, Deanna Dipietrantonio; his 10 grandchildren, Brooke, MacKenzie, Whitney, Bethany, Brian, Dustin, Joseph, Ashley, Emily, SueEllen; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexia, Tobias, Keyana, Arlo, Jayden, Brody and Caleb.
The family will visit with friends for service on Thursday, Dec. 14 , 2023 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, Tenn. A celebration of life will follow immediately at the Rebel in Columbia, Tenn.
