OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Roi Rene Tucker, born on July 30, 1948, in Queens, N.Y., to Roy and Ethel (Van Putten) Tucker, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Oct. 21, 2023, at his cherished home in Old Orchard Beach.

Roi, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, shared a beautiful journey of life with his wife, Judy (Livingston) Tucker, whom he married on Aug. 22, 1971. Their enduring love laid the foundation for a remarkable family. Roi and Judy’s path first crossed at Nasson College in Springvale where they found each other and embarked on a lifelong adventure together.

During his college years, Roi excelled as an athlete, playing basketball while pursuing his education. In 1973, he attained a law degree from the University of Southern Maine, a testament to his determination and dedication. Roi’s passion for education led him to a fulfilling career as a history teacher at Sanford High School. He shared his knowledge and inspired generations of students throughout his tenure.

Later in his career, he transitioned into the role of Director of Human Resources for Shaw’s Super Markets, where he played an integral part in their success, serving communities across Southern Maine. Following his career with Shaw’s Supermarkets, he gained valuable experience in the grocery industry in New York State as VP of Human Resources for D’Agostino supermarkets. Later in life, Roi returned to Shaw’s Supermarkets human resource division and then later went to continue his career with Zallie’s and Klein’s Shoprites, before retiring in 2016.

Roi’s devotion to his family was unwavering. He was a wonderful father to Keith and Kara, providing them with a loving and nurturing environment. Roi’s love for his grandchildren, Sydney Forrest and Merrick Mitchell, knew no bounds, and he treasured the time spent with them.

An adventurous spirit, Roi found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He relished the cold New England fall weather, the satisfaction of splitting wood in Alfred and the excitement of attending Sea Dogs games at Hadlock Field. Roi loved the thrill of deep-sea fishing and shared countless adventures while traveling with his beloved wife, especially during their time at their cherished Aruba timeshare.

Roi was known for his remarkable intelligence and wisdom. He possessed a strong voice and held firm opinions, always delivered with fairness and respect. As a father, he was exceptional, and his love extended to being a doting and affectionate Grandpa.

Roi had a sweet tooth, with a particular fondness for Dunkin’ and Holy Donuts. He found immense joy in visiting Disney World and reveled in the beauty of fall foliage throughout Maine. The open road was his canvas, and he loved taking scenic drives, especially in the company of his loving daughter, Kara. He was an avid supporter of New England sports teams, with a soft spot for the New England Patriots and the Red Sox, despite his son Keith’s allegiance to the Yankees. Roi’s heart was vast and his legacy enduring. He leaves behind a multitude of treasured memories and a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Tucker; daughter, Kara Tucker-Forrest, son, Keith Tucker; grandchildren, Sydney A. Forrest and Merrick Mitchell.

A celebration of Roi Rene Tucker’s life will take place in the future where friends and family are invited to come together to honor his memory.

Roi Rene Tucker’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will forever be a testament to a life well-lived. Rest in peace, dear Roi. Your journey continues in the hearts of those who loved you.
