Margaret Mary “Peggy” Kramer

FALMOUTH – Everyone thinks their Mom is the kindest, sweetest, most loving person on earth. In our case this was most assuredly true.

Margaret Mary “Peggy” (McAndrews) Kramer was born in 1946 in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Her parents William and Margaret McAndrews raised their delightfully precocious and polite third child in the big house with the swing out back. She was life-long best-friends with her two older siblings, Patricia Poelker and Kathleen Natalie. Any time they gathered, the house would shake with laughter.

After typing school, Peggy met her husband, Edward Charles Kramer, while working at Frequency Electronics. They shared a life of adventure, family, and travel. Their three sons, Evrett Alan, Joshua David, and Matthew Garrett were their beloved pride and joy. In time, Josh married Amy Fienup and Matt married Sammantha Mann. Soon five grandchildren came in the form of Jane, Sadie, Adelaide, Theresa, and William. They will carry on her legacy of kindhearted do-goodery for the rest of their lives.

Peggy went back to school, earning a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra and a master’s from Adelphi University. Upon graduating with honors in her field of Speech Language Pathology, she began an illustrious career at the prestigious Transitions of Long Island. She helped many gravely injured people learn how to speak and function again. The legacy of her profession is enshrined in a book she co-authored, “The Functional Memory Manual”.

After leaving Long Island, Peggy moved to her house-on-the-lake, outside of Portland. She spent many years there as a base while traveling the world. When at home, she kayaked, volunteered at food shelters, lighthouses, and most of all hung out with her amazing fur friend, Kenzie.

Everyone who met Peggy found her to be a warm, beautiful, and helpful soul. Love and smiles followed in her wake, and we could not be more proud to have called her our mother. Rest in sweet peace dear PK.

The family would like to thank the staff of Legacy Memory Care for their thorough and compassionate care during her challenging time at the end of her days.

Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home or Portland. To view Peggy’s memorial page, or to share an online condolence, please visit http://www.ConroyTullyWalker.com
