FREEPORT – Evelyn Wally Chaim Panish, beloved wife, mother, and friend, died of complications from dementia on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 at her home in Freeport, surrounded by her family.

Evelyn was born in 1930 in Berlin, Germany. In 1940, her family escaped Nazi Germany to Shanghai, China. Her family was sponsored for emigration to Denver, Colo. in 1947 where she met Morton Panish whom she married in 1951. Morton’s career took them to Lansing, Mich., North Andover, Mass., Springfield, N.J., and in 2005 they retired to Freeport.

Evelyn is survived and greatly missed by her husband, Morton; and children, Steven, Paul and Deborah.
