The communities of Biddeford and Saco are invited to the Veterans Day Ceremony and Parade on Saturday, Nov. 11 to honor those who have served or are serving our country. The day begins with a brief Opening Ceremony at 9:55 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Biddeford (corner of Pool and Alfred). Following the ceremony, the parade will proceed from Alfred Street in Biddeford to the C.K. Burns School on Middle Street in Saco. The Closing Ceremony will occur at C.K. Burns School at approximately 10:45 a.m.
This year’s parade features veterans from the American Legion and AMVETS, local scouting troops and dance troops, school bands and police and fire departments. The Master of Ceremony is Roger Beaupre, Grand Marshal is Nathan Johnston, Guest Speaker is Paul Gagne, Youth Reader is Milan Vire, Chaplain is Reverend Scott Cousineau of First Parish Congregation of Saco, Flag Raising by Massabesic ROTC cadets and National Anthem performed by the Seacoast Band of Biddeford and Old Orchard Beach, and Thornton Academy
Since 2014, Heart of Biddeford has collaborated with local veterans organizations to host parades to honor those who serve or have served our country, as well as to build connections in the community of Biddeford and Saco. “Our local veterans organizations appreciate the involvement of the whole community,” said Heart of Biddeford Executive Director Delilah Poupore. “This is an important time to stop and remember all who have served in the armed services.”
