Sophia Monfa scored in the first half and Finley Brown and Annie Vigue added second-half goals as fifth-seeded Cheverus blanked 12th-seeded Marshwood, 3-0, in a Class A South girls’ soccer prelim Friday in Portland.

The Stags (10-3-1) advance to meet No. 4 seed Thornton Academy in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Monfa scored with an assist from Vigue just before halftime.

Brown’s goal came on a penalty kick. Vigue then scored a clinching goal, assisted by Brown.

Evelyn Rush stopped four shots for the Stags.

Lana Emery made eight saves for the Hawks (5-10).

FALMOUTH 2, PORTLAND 0: Mallory Kerr and Hadley Perry scored and the sixth-seeded Navigators (10-3-2) eliminated the No. 11 Bulldogs (5-9-1) in a Class A South prelim at Falmouth.

The Navigators will travel to third-seeded Windham for a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Kerry converted Mackenzie VerLee’s corner kick in the first half, and Perry scored with an assist from Josie D’Andrea in the second half.

Madison VerLee stopped four shots for Falmouth. Portland keeper Lucy Tidd made six saves.

SOUTH PORTLAND 3, NOBLE 0: Emma Travis, Nola Gorneau and Marina Bassett were the goal scorers as the eighth-seeded Red Riots (8-5-2) topped the ninth-seeded Knights (6-8-1) in a Class A South prelim in South Portland.

Maci Rauscher was credited with an assist, and Amelia Burton-Fowler need to make just one save for South Portland, with advances top play top-seeded Scarborough in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WELLS 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Grace Badger scored both goals, one assisted by Caitlin Shiels, as the seventh-seeded Warriors (8-5-2) downed the 10th-seeded Patriots (5-10) in a Class B South prelim in Wells.

Wells moves on to face second-seeded Cape Elizabeth in a quarterfinal on Tuesday.

SANFORD 4, BONNY EAGLE 1: Ailey Mann scored twice to lead the seventh-seeded Spartans (10-4-1) over the 10th-seeded Scots (7-8) in a Class A South prelim at Sanford.

Mann opened the scoring with a header off a corner kick by Hailey Tarbox. Tarbox then made it 2-0 before Elizabeth Hamilton cut Bonny Eagle’s deficit in half, but goals by Julissa McBarron and Mann help Sanford pull away.

The Spartans next face second-seeded Gorham in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Andre DiMolfetta converted a penalty kick just 23 seconds into the second half to break a 1-1 tie, lifting the eighth-seeded Raiders (11-4) over the No. Patriots (5-8-2) in a Class B South prelim at Fryeburg.

Hugo Sala Marseca contributed a goal and an assist for Fryeburg, which advances to face top-seeded Yarmouth on Tuesday. Nivaldo Lucato de Souza Neto also scored.

Noah Hebert was the goal scorer for Gray-New Gloucester.

FALMOUTH 4, WESTBROOK 1: Mikey Christman scored three first-half goals to pace the seventh-seeded Navigators (9-4-2) over the 10th-seeded Blue Blazes (7-7-1) in a Class A South prelim at Falmouth.

The Navigators next face second-seeded Gorham in the quarterfinals at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Christman’s first goal was set up by Evan Mayo. Alex Findlay set up the second goal, and Sam Yoon got an assist on third just over a minute before halftime.

The Blue Blazes (7-7-1) got a second-half goal from Paddy Walsh, but Mayo answered late.

SOUTH PORTLAND 1, BONNY EAGLE 0: Tim Caouette broke a scoreless deadlock in the 69th minute, lifting the eighth-seeded Red Riots (7-5-3) over the No. 9 Scots (7-7-1) in a Class A South prelim in South Portland.

South Portland will face top-ranked Windham in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

CAPE ELIZABETH 6, FREEPORT 3: Mike Foley capped the opening drive of the game with a short touchdown run, and the Capers (2-6) held off the Falcons (2-6) in Freeport.

Freeport’s Rosie Panenka kicked a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter, but the Falcons couldn’t reach the end zone.

SOUTH PORTLAND 7, SCARBOROUGH 0: Alex Horton ran a jet sweep off left tackle for a 9-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, giving the Red Riots (4-4) a win over the Red Storm (1-7) in South Portland.

LEAVITT 34, CHEVERUS 14: Noah Carpenter had three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to stake the Hornets (8-0) to a 20-0 lead as they completed a perfect regular season with a win over the Stags (6-2) in Turner.

Carpenter added a 73-yard scoring run in the third quarter and also connected with Will Keach on a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Giovanni St. Onge had a rushing touchdown for Cheverus and threw a 6-yard TD pass to Preston Fallon.

BEDFORD 38, THORNTON ACADEMY 7: Danny Black passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another as the Bulldogs (8-0) beat the Trojans (4-4) in Bedford, New Hampshire.

Brody Helton had a 21-yard touchdown run and a 54-yard reception for a score. Eli Goumas and Dominic Tagliaferro also caught TD passes from Black.

Alan Sanroman scored on a 9-yard run late in the third quarter for Thornton.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 66, MT. VIEW 0: Wes Gallant rushed for four touchdowns in the first half, and the top-seeded Seagulls (8-0) easily advanced to the 8-Man Small South semifinals by defeating the eighth-seeded Mustangs (0-8) in Old Orchard Beach.

The reigning state champions scored on all nine of their possessions, including TD runs of 12, 32, 2 and 42 yards by Gallant.

Asher Hubert added a 1-yard scoring run, and quarterback Brady Plante connected with Kooper Gervais for a 17-yard touchdown just before halftime.

Plante also threw a 34-yard TD pass to Riley Provencher in the third quarter, Brayden Mansur scored on a 36-yard run, and James Dion had a 3-yard touchdown run.

The Seagulls will host a semifinal next weekend against fourth-seeded Sacopee Valley, which defeated No. 5 Boothbay, 22-14.

OXFORD HILLS 26, SANFORD 7: Hunter Tardiff ran for three touchdowns to help the Vikings (6-2) pull away from the Spartans (3-4-1) at South Paris.

Tardiff broke a scoreless tie by going in from 3 yards with 9:33 left in the first half, then added scoring runs from 16 and 43 yards in the third quarter.

Brayden Murch caught a 17-yard pass from Brady Truman later in the third to make it 26-0.

Jordan Bissonnette prevented a shutout by rumbling in from 30 yards for Sanford with 7:46 to play.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 28, WELLS 7: Cohen Carter threw four touchdown passes in the first half – three to Logan Walton – as the Raiders (7-1) wrapped up their regular season with a win over the Warriors (5-3) in Fryeburg.

Carter opened the scoring with a 9-yard pass to Idan Or, then hooked up with Walton for three long scoring plays – 36, 85 and 39 yards.

Wells scored in the second quarter on a 10-yard pass from Brooks Fox to Riley Murphy.

FIELD HOCKEY

SANFORD 6, WINDHAM 1: Audrey Payeur finished with two goals and two assists as the seventh-seeded Spartans (9-6) beat the No. 10 Eagles (5-10) in a Class A South prelim at Sanford.

Ellie Davis and Miah Mondor each chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Zoey McCann and Emma Riche also scored.

Windham got a first-quarter goal from Zoe Dries.
