A tale of two towns

A large citizens group in Wells continues to challenge the town over its failure to help in improving beach access for
the public at Moody Beach. The Bell ‘89 Law awarded intertidal beach ownership to adjacent private property owners in the state of Maine. This became the law in both Kennebunkport and Wells.
Since then, at various times, over an extended period, citizen groups in both towns repeatedly sought town help in affecting relief from this law via agreements between the town and private property owners.
Kennebunkport agreed to help. Wells denied to agree to help.
Today, a sizable portion of Goose Rocks Beach is now public and has been for over four years. Wells still ignores/denies every plea for help. All of Moody Beach remains private.
Wells claims to be “The Friendliest Town in Maine,” but most now find this hard to believe.

Scarecrows provide festive touch
To the editor,
A quick note of thanks to all the Kennebunk businesses and residents who helped make our town look so festive with an amazing collection of scarecrows.
It have been so much fun walking and driving around and spotting them here, there and everywhere!
