I am writing to congratulate the Falmouth community on the upcoming 15th anniversary of its Community Supper. Except for a three-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, each October since 2009 Falmouth’s faith communities have hosted, at the Falmouth Congregational Church parish hall, a roast turkey supper (with local squash, potatoes and apple crisp) for the Falmouth community. Last year 195 volunteers prepared and served supper to over 600 guests.

I have attended the supper as a guest and know of no other occasion where our young, old, rich, poor, town officials, business leaders, teachers, the helping and the helped sit together in common community. The Community Supper has also become the occasion where any of us can contribute to the Falmouth Food Pantry. Every penny donated went to those served by the pantry, as all pantry workers are volunteers. The food pantry is more important than ever.

Congratulations to all those who attend, support and volunteer for this commendable cause. I look forward to passing the gravy to my neighbors at the 15th Community Supper on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
