Fall Fun Weekend at Wildlife Park
Educators and biologists from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and park staff will lead presentations on nocturnal creatures from bats to owls and more during a Fall Fun Weekend at Maine Wildlife Park Oct. 21-22. Biologist Cory Stearns and MDIFW Education Supervisor Laura Rogers will speak on bat biology at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Park staff member Zach Alvarez will talk about owls at 11 a.m. and Rogers will wrap up with a discussion on all kinds of creatures of the night at 3 p.m.
The park will also have lawn games, a scavenger hunt, and a challenge to guess how much moose antlers weigh for a prize.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. It’s located at 56 Game Farm Road in Gray. All activities are included with admission.
‘Hocus Pocus’ on the lawn
Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” will be screened outdoors Friday, Oct. 20.
Guests are invited to the lawn behind Gray Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. and encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Bring candy donations to supply the following weekend’s annual Gray-New Gloucester Trunk-or-Treat.
G-NG Parks and Recreation will give out prizes to the best adult and kids costumes.

Blood drive and Halloween party
Gray’s American Legion Riders are holding a blood drive and Halloween party Oct. 28 at Post 86.
The blood drive is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Halloween party starts at 7 and goes to 10 p.m., with entertainment by musician Doug Morgan. Costumes are encouraged and the best will win a prize.
Tickets are $15 per person, or $25 for a couple. Get tickets by calling 956-1377. The post is located at 15 Lewiston Road.
Homeschoolers open house at the library
The Gray Public Library will host an open house for homeschooled children in the area from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. Library staff will lead a crash course on how to get the most out of the library’s resources. There will also be a social time with drinks and snacks.
